I’ve always admired people who can write well and I wish I could be a decent writer, too. In the back of my mind the idea to publish a book someday would be a lifetime achievement, but I never could see myself giving it it a try.
“Hard work”, I said to myself or “not the priority now”, or “no idea how to start”, were some of my many excuses.
But the fact that I will be turning 50 this October, I guess somehow has given me the motivation to start challenging my discipline, in general. For example, in the last 9 months, I started taking fitness and nutrition a bit more seriously than in the past and so far seems it works.
Getting a bit more confident with my initial success in the fitness area, the next step was to start thinking about something that would be positive also on my mind and the idea to start writing, popped up again.
So I have asked a close friend to help me set up this blog, but unfortunately the blog remained empty for months, reminding me bitterly how difficult it is for me to follow up on my resolutions.
The same excuses about not doing something that will be good for me started coming out again, plus it was very hard for me to decide how to start, as I usually do.
I wanted to make 100% sure that I could make the best possible beginning of the blog, figuring out what would be the ideal topic for a first article. And apparently that was just another excuse to postpone and postpone – no movement and no result as to start writing.
That was until I stumbled on this picture in LinkedIn (lately I spend quite some time reading business articles there and really enjoy it).

I believe this quote by Dwayne Johnson is something that admittedly contains a lot of truth inside. There are so many excuses we give to ourselves not to start doing something that is good for us, for our body, our mind or our soul and probably these motivational words is the best way to fight back these excuses.
Since this picture was the motivation for my first post, it is a proof that the quote works indeed, since now I have officially kicked off my blog.
I guess a poor start is far better than no start at all and I’m proud I finally took the time and effort to do it.
Although it is obvious I need to improve substantially, I am committed to try to be a bit better in the next one.
Until then.
